Porsche Panamera looks to be another CLS replica.

With spy shots of new cars coming out from the arctic circle, Nurburgring, and California all the time, its no wonder Porsche camouflages their prototypes so well. It looks like Porsche will finally be stepping into the 4-door sedan class. For all the Porsche fanatics with two kids who loathe SUV’s. We’re seeing less camoflage now though and getting better glimpses of this 2010 dream machine.

2010 Panamera

Porsche plans on beginning production sometime in 2009 and it sounds like we might even see it state side next year. The Panamera will be a front-engined rear wheel drive beast powered by a 3.6l V-6 borrowed from the new Cayenne and also a 4.5l V-8 from the Cayenne with maybe a hybrid model in the works. There are rumors that the V-10 from the Carrera GT or the V-12 Diesel from the Q7 could be used but I highly doubt that they would offer 5 different engine options. Lets hope we get to see this car rolled out sooner, rather than later being as Porsche has already built facilities to manufacture the Panamera.

New iPhone app might save my life!

So while I was browsing around some new iPhone applications this morning I came across a couple apps that offer wifi voice calls. Lets just say where I live has less than desirable iPhone reception. So the program called TruPhone allows you to make international calls via wifi. Any number, any country, and its cheap!

From your phone you can call any US or Canadian number for only $.015 a minute, and internationally you can call landlines for $.03 per minute, mobile phones for $.15 per minute, and TruPhone to TruPhone calls are FREE!

I also stumbled upon a program still in testing. A company from Greenwich Connecticut called iCall has come up with a similar program that allows you to make and even RECEIVE calls over a wireless network! They already have a program for windows that allows you to make and receive calls which is free, but they do offer a “pro” version. In their video they demonstrate how their program allows you to transfer phone calls from your cellular network, to wifi. Needless to say I’ve already signed up to join their beta tester program. Now of course we’ll be allowed to test it for them to find any possible bugs they haven’t caught yet so we’re helping them but, I also get to use this application in my bomb shelter of a home! Volkswagen’s new Passat CC is BEAUTIFUL!

Volkswagen has got me pretty excited because they’re going to be releasing a new take on their Passat. They’ve taken styling tips from Mercedes Benz’s CLS Coupe, and built a much sleeker, coupe like 4-door. I change my mind quite frequently on the next car I’ll be buying. Partly because I dream big, partly because I can’t really decide if I want a coupe or another sedan. I’ve had both and I can’t seem to decide which I liked better. The new Passat CC however is what Volkswagen call their new Coupe. The steep roof lines, and small windows create a profile of a smaller 2-door car. However it still retains the functionality of sedan. As for head room for the back seat passengers, I could care less. I’ll never be back there right!

Volkswagen has also released a Gold Coast special edition shown above. In the states we’ll be receiving two models. A 2.0L turbo model with 200 hp 16 valve I-4 like the Jetta, GTI and Passat. Also we should be seeing a 3.6L 280 hp 24 valve V6. Unfortunately Europe still gets the VR6 4-Motion model with all the tech upgrades. They get Parking Assist, a Rear Camera mounted in the back emblem, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Adaptive Chassis Control. Whatever though right, that leaves us a blank slate to work from! The Passat CC will be offered in both a 6 speed Manual and a 6 speed automatic but unfortunately no DSG either. At the end of the day its a cruiser, with just enough in all the right ways! I could see myself cruising down country roads with the massive sunroof, blaring the stereo and taking in all the interior has to offer.

Volkswagen really stepped up in this department! They’ve chromed out little knobs and trim everywhere, including a brushed aluminum center console. The leather work and interior color options would invoke jealousy in just about anyone! I’ve fallen, and hard. We’ll see after my first test drive how I feel. Now to the YouTube video I found.

I’ve heard strange stories before about people eating weird things. There’s a movie, “Faces of Death” that shows people bashing a monkey to death and then eating its brain. Now I never thought that would be topped however, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

People can now keep their placenta to save stem cells from their birth. Stem cells can be used for research about the birth process. Scientists may learn more about birth defects, and cancer they believe maybe be caused by abnormal cell division during pregnancy. Another reason to keep their placenta I hear is to eat. Thats right, to eat.

They say that the nutrients in the placenta could help the mother to a speedy recovery. Mammal mothers do this very often in the wild, but isn’t it just disgusting to be eating something that was once inside your wife? I don’t know if I could ever look at my wife the same knowing I had eaten a piece of her. Well, not everyone has a weak stomach like mine right. Anyways, heres a video I found of a new father eating placenta. He doesn’t seem to impressed with it, but if you look there are more videos on YouTube of these crazy people. One guy even says he made a smoothie out of it! Anyways, without further ado.

So Jeff’s finally leaving for South Korea tomorrow. Which means tonight we’re all going to celebrate around 7 at his house. When I say celebrate I mean, remember how he was with all of his limbs.

I keep busting on him, telling him he’s going to step on a land mine, or wake up in a tub of ice with no kidney but alas, he’s still going.

Other than that i’ve been trying to watch the Olympics but I just can’t stand listening to the commentating for to long. Phelps has, as expected, dazzled everyone with this years performances. Jordan, JB and I went shopping this afternoon at Forever 21. I would like to make it known that, that store is absolutely disgusting. JB and I looked for dresses for Jordan pretty much for FOREVER and a year. Everything was cluttered and unorganized! So after our horrible experience we finally got to the register. While we were paying this father walked up to another sales associate and asked if her register was open (whilst she was still counting her drawer) and she replied “In just a moment.” However this father couldn’t grasp the full idea on what a line is for. He had cut someone in line to ask if the register was open, and then just assumed he would be next. No sir, the women in front of you in line is next. Now I would’ve said something to him, but I wouldn’t let it ruin my day. This women stopped the girls behind her from passing, and walked right up to the register. While she was ringing out, she turned to him and handed him his own ass. She got pretty obnoxious and just wouldn’t give it up. Anyways, its time to get ready to PARTY! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!

At the 2008 British Motor Show a company called Lightning debuted their new GT. A electric powered 700 horsepower supercar. Its gorgeous, at first glance I really thought it was a new Aston Martin but its just so James Bond I couldn’t help think that.

The Lightning GT is powered by 30 batteries that are apparently capable of carrying it 186 miles on a 10 minute charge. It also has four hub mounted electric motors that can be controlled separately. The car doesn’t reach maximum torque at a certain RPM like gasoline powered cars, its driven by a sophisticated traction control system that monitors the road conditions and wheel spin to the amount of acceleration being applied. This means that in theory Lightning could design these motors to make the car smarter in corners and more quicker to respond in more demanding road or driving conditions. Lightning says that this car not having an engine just 4 small electric motors, will make it significantly cheaper to maintain than any other supercar in its class. Their using nano technology in the batteries that apparently last up to 12 years as opposed to the 3-5 year shelf life of traditional batteries. They even still hold 85% charge after 15,000 charges. Ikea, New Haven, and random roads

So yesterday was very random. Early in the afternoon my friend Jordan text messaged me and wanted to do something to get out of the house. Ikea was my first idea, so with my friends Karyn and Jordan, we set off for New Haven. Ikea really made me want my own place again. I miss the freedom I had to do whatever I wanted. My apartment was so comfortable and I’m never comfortable here. Either way, Ikea made me want to spend all my money, so we left. On our way out though we noticed that in their warehouse the have the largest ceiling fans i’ve ever seen!

After Ikea I decided that I wanted to go to the shore. So we drove to New Havens Light House Point. We pretty much just goofed around with my phone taking pictures. Ok I goofed around with my phone the whole time. I got a couple really good pictures though. When we left New Haven I made the executive decision to take all back roads home. I’m more efficient than MapQuest in case you didn’t know. Either way here’s a picture from yesterday.

PS. The guy in the background jumped off the pier into the sound 3 times. The sound. He swam in the sound. Wow.

Titanic Exhibit, Strange Farms & Stew Leonards

Stacey and I woke up pretty early today to see the Titanic Exhibit in Hartford. It was only about a 25 minute walk through exhibit but a lot of the artifacts in cases were well preserved. They were sticklers about any photography at all. We were asked to check in cameras and camera phones at the desk. Little did this strange women know but I would never leave my iPhone at the desk. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get any pictures.

On our way back from Hartford Stacey and I decided to pick up some food to make for dinner. We got fresh native corn and picked blueberries from this strange farm.

Maybe I just don’t trust anyone but you drive up this narrow driveway into they’re farm and literally do everything yourself. Nobodies up there to make sure your not stealing they just trust everyone!

Stacey and I made dinner for everybody tonight. For an appetizer we made tomato and mozzarella with homemade balsamic glaze, made by me! I cooked chicken for dinner with fresh corn and rice. I really need to start eating healthier.

Twilight teaser, Vincent Oshana & the Sun

So recently a friend of mine has been reading every Twilight book she can get her hands on. As told by her its the “new Harry Potter.” Which coming from her speaks volumes. Now not having read any of them by lack of effort and time, I know nothing of the story line or plot other than there are vampires in it. However I did watch the trailer and what I saw I liked.

I also found a new comedian I like quite a bit. His names Vincent Oshana, he’s a middle eastern comic thats was on Def Jam Comedy. He starts out funny, but gets funnier with every joke. By the end of his set I had tears in my eyes.

Last but not least I went to the beach yesterday and put sun block on at least 4 times. However I currently look like a lobster. I’m praying that I don’t peal but I keep reapplying aloe every other hour. Lets hope.

Google Earth for the iPhone!

As I’m sure you already know the iPhone’s map application is pretty handy. It uses Google maps, and the phones ability to triangulate its location using cell phone towers to find your approximate location and map out directions. The new iPhone 3G even has a GPS chip for turn by turn directions, but what about Googles application Google Earth? Since Apple released its SDK a few months back, software developers have been going nuts creating new applications. Here’s a video I found of a preview of Google Earth on the iPhone. It’s pretty similar to the Maps application but you see a 3D image of earth instead. They’ve used the accelerometer in the phone to allow street view also! More or less privacy died long ago, but now iPhone users can stalk on the go!
